The amount of organic gardens is growing rapidly. This simply means a more healthy and environment-friendly world. If you would like to have your own organic garden, here are some helpful organic gardening tips to prepare yourself:
Organic Gardening Tip #1: Choosing Your Crops
There are many crops available at markets and groceries stores. An advice would be not to pick any that you like but choose properly based on your climate and site condition. I can't emphasize in words the importance of this.
As a beginner, start with vegetables and beans then move onto other seeds.
Organic Gardening Tip #2: Preparing Proper Containers
Be on the look out for proper containers so that you can have a head start in planting your seeds for the season. After it grows to a decent length, then you transfer to your garden. If you do not want to plant yet, your job then would be to prepare the soil with clay and other organic matter.
Examples of proper containers would be old yogurt containers, milk cartons, tubes of potato chips (like Pringles), juice cans.
If you are unable to find any of those, approach the gardening centers and purchase them. Always ensure the container you buy is about 4 inches deep.
An additional tip would be to kill off all germs and bacteria off the container by cleaning with (lukewarm water + chlorine bleach). After which, leave it in the open sun to eliminate off all the residues.
Organic Gardening Tip #3: Purchase packets of planting mix for standby
Start preparing yourself by buying planting mix. They will help in the healthy growth of your plants.
Always keep extras when possible.
Here's an extra tip: Make sure your planting mixes are sterile as it's much safer for you and your plants.
Organic Gardening Tip #4: Labeling Your Containers.
Many beginners make this mistake by not labeling your containers. They forgot the fact that most plants that are in the sprouting stage look alike, making it hard to differentiate which plant is which.
Labeling would also prevent you from planting the same seeds again and again.
Organic Gardening Tip #5: Prepare Sufficient Light
Due to some high-rise buildings, sunlight for some areas might be blocked, causing natural sunlight to be unavailable.
If you are one of the unfortunate few, you should panic! Nah, kidding. What you should be doing is heading down to the nearest electronics store to purchase fluorescent light tubes.
All these organic gardening tips can be implemented and prepared the moment you intend to go organic, giving you an unfair advantage over other gardeners. You will save up a lot of trouble in the future, compared to the others which might complain that they can't get started or their plants are not growing well.
